Quan API Updates

Quan Responses now uses Strut for web answers

Quan Responses web grounding update
Summary

When a Quan Responses answer needs current information, the quality of the web search behind it matters. We are switching that search from Tavily to Strut, a company we have a partnership with. The change is intended to help Quan return web answers faster and ground them in more reliable information.

Why we are changing providers

People use Quan to ask questions that depend on what is happening now. A web result should give Quan useful facts to work with, and it should arrive quickly enough that the answer still feels responsive. We expect our work with Strut to improve both parts of that experience: the speed of the search and the factual grounding of the answer.

That does not make every answer automatically correct. Quan still has to interpret the information it finds and explain it clearly. This update is about giving that process a better source of web results.

A lower price per search

We previously charged $0.015 per search with Tavily. With Strut, the price is $0.007 per search. That is less than half the previous price, a reduction of about 53%.

That brings the cost of web search down by more than half, whether you use Quan Responses occasionally or make searches throughout the day.

What to expect

Quan Responses will use Strut for web search as this change takes effect. If your application relies on grounded answers, you can keep using Quan Responses while benefiting from the lower search price. We will keep assessing the speed and quality of the answers people receive.
