Quan 3.5 is out today, and our plans change with it. Essentials is now called Plus. Plus and Pro both include Quan 3.5, usage is counted in tokens over a month, and every plan can use credits to have Quan write a research report as a PDF.
The plans at a glance
| Plan | Price | Quan 3.5 | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | 3 answers a month | 150 when you join |
| Plus Launch (first 100) | $10 a month | 2,000,000 tokens a month | 500 a month |
| Plus | $12 a month or $120 a year | 2,000,000 tokens a month | 500 a month |
| Pro | $20 a month or $200 a year | 4,000,000 tokens a month | 1,000 a month |
For a typical question, 2 million tokens works out to about 90 Quan 3.5 answers a month, and 4 million to about 180. A detailed comparison uses more than that; a quick definition uses less. The annual plans cost the same as ten months.
Why the limits are now monthly tokens
The old plans counted chats in 12-hour windows. Once you hit the number, you waited, even if your next question was a short one. Plus and Pro now come with a monthly allowance measured in tokens, the unit Quan uses for the text it reads and writes. A short question takes a small bite of it and a long one takes more, so the limit tracks what you actually ask.
There's also a daily ceiling: 300,000 tokens on Plus (around 13 answers) and 600,000 on Pro (around 26). It's there so one shared login can't burn through a month in an afternoon, and we don't expect most people to come close.
You won't need to do token math. The app shows a usage bar and an estimate of how many answers you have left this month.
What stays the same
Quan 3.4L is still on every plan, and it doesn't count against your Quan 3.5 allowance. Guests get 75,000 tokens of it a day and free accounts get 150,000, as before. Plus keeps the 1,000,000 a day that Essentials had, and Pro keeps 3,000,000.
Deep Research also stays where it is for now: 2 requests every 24 hours on Plus and 5 on Pro. We're reworking it and will write about the changes separately.
Credits and research reports
Credits pay for documents Quan writes for you. One credit is worth one cent, and a research report of 2 to 4 pages costs 150 credits, or $1.50. Quan shows you the cost before it starts writing. If a report fails, the credits go back to your balance.
Plus includes 500 credits a month and Pro includes 1,000. Those reset each month. If you want more, you can buy a pack on quan.stockup.cc on any plan, Starter included:
| Pack | Price | 2 to 4 page reports |
|---|---|---|
| 500 credits | $5.00 | 3 |
| 1,200 credits | $11.50 | 8 |
| 3,000 credits | $27.00 | 20 |
| 10,000 credits | $85.00 | 66 |
Credits you buy don't expire. When you create a report, your plan's monthly credits are used first and your bought credits after that.
Starter: try Quan 3.5 for free
A free account now includes three Quan 3.5 answers a month, so you can put it next to 3.4L on your own questions and decide whether the difference is worth paying for. Verify your email and we'll add 150 credits, which is enough for one 2 to 4 page report. A report is the clearest way to see what Quan can do, so the first one is on us.
Plus Launch: $10 a month for the first 100
The first 100 people to subscribe to Plus pay $10 a month instead of $12, and they keep that price for as long as they stay subscribed. The pricing page shows how many spots are left. If you cancel, the launch price ends with the subscription and the spot isn't reopened.
For developers
Quan 3.5 is on the StockUp API as quan-3.5, at $5.50 per million input tokens and $28.00 per million output tokens. The first 100 developers to redeem code QUAN35 get $5.00 of prepaid credit to spend on Quan 3.5. Redeem it in the developer console on the API page.
